Consent can be sticky however with cognitive issues and adult children need to cut these facilities some slack for trying to do their best.<br />....<br />More to the point: I've amended my Advance Directive for Health Care to address this question; and I'm puzzled why more couples my age (66) don't talk about this. My ADHC (I used the Five Wishes) says, "Dear wife: If I'm in the back room drooling and don't remember your name, please get a boy friend and don't tell the priest! Just do it. I love you. Take care of yourself. -your husband."<br /><br />Letting a spouse go like this was the whole plot line of the once scandalous D.H. Lawrence novel Lady Chatterley's Lover.
